About Heath

It was a love of photography that inspired Heath Robbins to leave his job as an agency executive and travel the world with a camera in hand. More than twenty years later, it is his love for food, people, and making pictures, that continues to fuel his commercial photography career with focus and passion. For every client and for every shoot, Heath sets out to capture moments, tastes, and emotions that pull people out of their everyday, and straight into the moments that he creates.

Sharing the knowledge

Recently, Heath was asked to speak to a group at Hallmark Institute of Photography and share some insight about the photography industry.  It's very important to Heath and to many of us within the industry to give back and to continue to educate others about the business.  There are many great groups out there that can be a resource, but it is important to give back.  Heath spent time imparting some of his many years of knowledge to students that want to get involved and enter the business.

How do you get involved?  What are your outlets?

We all have opportunities that are out there, the question is, when you are called, do you answer?  I'm proud to say that Heath, Kristin and I all have the inquizative nature to keep learning and to help others learn too. Collaboration is massively fun and can be done in everything we do.  Heath gave of himself and all of us are better for it!

Share the knowledge...every day.

1800 Tequila

Since last October we've had the pleasure of working with The VIA Agency on creating images for 1800 Tequila. The images appeared on Instagram, Facebook and their website and many were tied to a certain date or event.

The brand has a very specific look and it was a great change of pace for me in the approach to this project. To begin with we shot almost everything at night, on my Nikon D800's and with a minimal crew. I also decided to shoot most of it with one continous light source and one or two small reflectors, instead of strobes. This gave me the look and feel I wanted as well as kept the amount of gear and lights we had on location down to a minimum. Since we shot many of the images on location in restaurants, bars, and public places not having to take over the space with a million pounds of gear and people was super helpful.

We provided VIA with the RAW files and they put the finishing touches on in post to provide the consistent look. I loved all the creative concepts they came up with and as usual it was a blast working with them!

Below are some of the final images.

Travel: Barcelona

I was bitten by the travel bug at an early age. I don't know exactly when, I can only tell you that I love to travel, anywhere, anytime. Even with the hassles of airport travel I still get excited thinking about going places. I think it's the adventure of having totally new experiences in places I've never been or finding new ways to explore places I've already been. Maybe it's from traveling around the world. Maybe I'm just restless. Either way, work or play, I love traveling.

So as my brother travels to Barcelona with his family for Thanksgiving I'm starting to feel that travel bug kicking in and I was reminded of my own trip to that amazing city. I had surprised my wife Lisa for our wedding anniversary with tickets for a 4 day weekend. I told her to pack a weekend bag and without telling her where we were going left... the country.

It was an incredible weekend of art, architecture, music and phenomenal meals. It remains one of my favorite European cities. So now the only question is where to next?

Family Fun

We are well into shooting fall now but we recently received the Family Fun magazine featuring a shoot we did for Easter. It was a great shoot with Photo Director Mark Mantegna, Kimberly Stoney creating all the crafts, Julie Paquette on props and wardrobe for all the kids and Erica Fagan doing all their hair and make up. The kids were so good and we had a great time making some very fun images. Here's a look behind the scenes and at the final story.

TBT Staples

Today I just wanted to remember what warm days and wearing shorts was like and since we are shooting with Staples again next week I thought a look at our production this past summer was perfect! We had multple sets going at the same time for multiple days and a good size crew so there was always a lot happening. Here's a look behind the scenes.
