I hate rocks
If I never see another rock again it will be too soon. Of course that's just a pipe dream becuase there isn't a spot in my entire yard that isn't all rock when you get two inches down. Using a pick axe has become my new workout.
Memorial Day was a beautiful weekend and I spent a good part of it digging...and digging...
I had to first dig the post holes, the post hole digger was utterly useless. It was pick axe and then hands and knees, couldn't even get a shovel through the stuff. I needed to get down 20 inches but keep the hole narrow, so when the pick axe didnt reach I resorted to a steel bar to pry the rocks out and then scop them out by hand.
After that came the wire, which was heaven to my arms and back. But it was short lived because then I had to plant.
The good news is I now have plants in the ground and despite the workouts I'm looking forward to planting more by the end of the week. So far I have tomatoes, three kinds of peppers, basil, dill, cilantro, parsley, squash and cucumber.
Next up, finish the gate and find some more veggies to plant!

Hey look at it this way, you now have plenty of material for a rock garden once your herb garden is finished...:)
